Two wind towers are going up in Erie for the school district. The school district will be powered by one turbine and the rest will be sold back to Commonwealth Edison. Initially, the district received a $25,000 feasibility grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. The foundation uses a $225 million endowment from Commonwealth Edison to fund various clean energy projects.
